What is your goal in studying science?

Become a software developer/software engineer.

What does STAMPS mean to you?

STAMPS has truly helped me not only financially, but also with building connections, and learning about new opportunities. STAMPS has shown me the importance of becoming a scientist. Learning to communicate and build connections with other people as well as being open to new opportunities and ideas.

What is your research project about?

Teaching computers to recognize important scientific literature. A program able to capture important information and condense it using neural networks and machine learning.

What is the significance of your research?

Our project could be very useful to those attempting to learn a lot of valuable information or skills in a short amount of time. This project could easily be used and scaled onto other programs, but for now certain keywords will likely only be applied to certain types of literature.

How will participating in undergraduate research be beneficial for you?

I think it will be super beneficial as I will not only gain experience with Python (machine learning + Neural Networking), but also building connections with people and attempting to problem solve.

What is the most surprising thing about undergraduate research?

The opportunity to learn and grow. I would’ve never thought I would be conducting research in college.
